Vsevolod Meyerhold, the emblematic artistic figure Latest blog

Visitors of hotel Meyerhold Opera will be surprised by its unique Parisian style. But also by all the antiques decorating the lobby, and the enchanting atmosphere reflecting the refinement of the Art Deco movement. Yet, you probably don’t know a lot about the origins of the hotel’s name, Meyerhold. Well, let me start by telling you that the hotel is named after Vsevolod Meyerhold (1874 -1940), a Russian actor, stage director, and theatre producer. “His provocative experiments dealing with physical being and symbolism in an unconventional theatre setting made him one of the seminal forces in modern international theatre” – Wikipedia.
Considered as theater precursor, reformer and the most daring experimenter from the early twentieth century, his "biomechanics" ( the method that opposed Stanislavski) has attracted the greatest attention at that time and strongly influenced theater in the world.
Rejecting the theater of his time, and facing Stanislavski, which paved the way to the scene rematerialization focusing attention to the real environment and psychology, Meyerhold implemented its dematerialization which tend to bring about the invisible and the world of dreams, while opening a reflexive politics. He also made part of the most radical theatrical adventures, namely: symbolism and constructivism revolution.
His work, full of fertile contradictions, appeared divided by the cut that represented the 1917 revolution, but its consistency was linked to a very high opinion of the art of theater and the desire to develop a poetic and complex stage language.
In total harmony of the very spirit of this era, together with the boldness of the period when Art Deco was a  major artistic movement, the Meyerhold Opera Hotel is where you need to go to immerse yourself in an enchanting atmosphere of luxe and refinement.
