Portraits by Cézanne Latest blog

From June 13th until September 24th, 2017, the Musée d’Orsay is presenting “Portraits by Cézanne”, a travelling major exhibition featuring some of the most remarkable portraits by the French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906).

Showcasing more than 50 paintings, including notable portraits of his Uncle Dominique as well as Vallier, the exhibition aims at shedding light on the pictorial and thematic characteristics of Cézanne’s work in addition to his creation of complementary pairs and use of multiple versions of the same subject.

This exhibition is organized by the Musée d'Orsay, in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery in London and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
